Why Storytelling Belongs in Project Management
Nov 19, 2025Project management isn’t usually thought of as exciting. Gantt charts, timelines, and checklists can feel dry. But what if project management could come alive through story?
In part two of our podcast conversation, Dr. Guieswende Rouamba explains why he chose to write the second half of his book in story format—and why that decision matters.
The Problem
Instructional designers and educators often struggle to connect abstract project management concepts with their everyday challenges. Without real-world context, principles stay on the page and fail to influence practice.
The Path
Guieswende grew up in Burkina Faso, where storytelling was a primary way of teaching wisdom. By weaving characters like Bob—the resilient leader—and George—the resistant colleague—into his book, he makes complex principles both relatable and memorable.
The Payoff
Stories stick. Readers not only understand project management concepts, they see themselves in the characters. They walk away equipped to handle resistance, clarify vision, and lead without a title.
