Storytelling is a leadership skill—but like any skill, it takes feedback to get better.

In this episode of the Engaged By Design podcast, Michael and Vernon each told a Value Story, Founder Story, and Purpose Story—and then asked AI voices Sarah and Imogene for feedback.

And you know what? The feedback was surprisingly thoughtful, insightful, and kind.

How It Worked

After telling each story off-the-cuff, they asked the AI:
- What went well?
- What could be improved next time?
- What leadership value was demonstrated in the story?

The result? Nuanced, actionable, and encouraging feedback.

Sarah and Imogene (two distinct AI voice styles) gave insights on emotional arc, narrative pacing, and story clarity. They pointed out where to tighten intros, where to name the takeaway more clearly, and where a specific image might help a story land.

Why It Matters

Storytelling is deeply human—but that doesn’t mean AI can’t help.

Used the right way, AI becomes a coach, not a replacement. It can help leaders reflect, iterate, and improve how they connect with others.

Try It Yourself

Want to get better at telling your story? Here’s how:
1. Record yourself telling a story aloud (use a voice memo app).
2. Paste the transcript into ChatGPT or another AI assistant.
3. Ask for feedback: What’s strong? What could be better?
4. Reflect, revise, and retell.

You don’t need to be perfect. Just be real—and be willing to learn.
